Barry Sim is an AMSA Class 1 Marine Engineer and the owner and Director of Simtech Solutions. With over 40 years’ experience in the marine industry Barry has the expertise, industry knowledge and network contacts to provide specialised services and product support to numerous companies and our many valued clients (Svitzer, T Ports, Howard Smith, ISM, IMS, BHP, Alcoa, Royal Australian Navy, Rio, Sea Transport, Adsteam, Westug, ZPMC, Pasminco, and more).
For more than 10 years, Barry has also been involved in the development, design and supply of innovative environmental solutions for secondary containment systems. The Simtech Solutions team design, manufacture, supply and install Hydrocarbon Containment Products and Filtration Solutions using environmentally friendly solidifying polymers that provide low cost alternates to separators and concrete bunds.
This 21st century polymer technology has been proven and developed to bring a complete, cost effective and environmentally friendly solution to the way we prevent, cleanup and dispose of all hydrocarbon spills on land and water. What makes it unique from other products is:
The ability to transform all liquid hydrocarbons rapidly into a cohesive rubber like mass.
Non-hazardous, non-corrosive, non-carcinogenic and environmentally friendly.
The product is hydrophobic so cannot retain water.
It does not leach the hydrocarbons or revert back to its original form.
It can be disposed of in normal landfill or recycled for other uses.
We work closely with our USA parent company BCI and strategic partner DES (Diverse Environmental Solutions)
Our past and current clients include: ADF (Australian Defence Force), Ergon, Ausgrid, Western Power, SAPN, United Energy, AGL, INPEX, BP (Mexico Gulf Spill), Energex, Caltex, Leightons, GHD, Rio Tinto, BHP, T Ports, Power & Water, Saudi Aramco, and more.
